Raiders look for receivers: Javon Walker and Ronald Curry are the projected starters for the Raiders at wide receiver. Drew Carter is a lock at No. 3. That leaves seven players vying for the final two roster spots, reports the Contra Costa Times. Johnnie Lee Higgins and Chris McFoy spent time on Oakland's active roster last season. Yet, they combined for only three receptions, 68 yards and no touchdowns. Oakland used a seventh-round selection on Jonathan Holland in the 2007 NFL draft and fourth- and seventh-rounders on Arman Shields and Chaz Schilens, respectively, in this year's draft. On the surface, that gives them an edge over free-agent signees such as Todd Watkins and Drisan James, but not enough to guarantee them a roster spot. "There's great competition all over the place," Kiffin said of his receiving corps, "from making the roster to the practice squad. So, it's going to be real exciting to see these guys play. We've got some guys who can run. It's a far better unit than it was a year ago, as far as the depth and competition to make the roster."
